The Internal Revenue Service (“IRS”) had sought to assess more than $21,000.000 based on alleged issues with the client’s numerous business ventures. The IRS ultimately conceded that the client was entitled to a refund of $30,000 and was not liable for the additional tax, penalty, or interest that it initially sought.’/]

Weiss succeeded in obtaining a directed verdict in the course of defending a breach of contract claim against a local business brokerage firm and business broker. Following presentation of Plaintiff’s case-in-chief, during which Mr. Weiss cross-examined witnesses and presented impeachment evidence to the Court, Mr. Weiss moved for a directed verdict. After oral argument, the Court agreed with Mr. Weiss and the arguments set forth, granting judgment in favor of all Defendants.’/]

Weiss, successfully obtained a directed verdict in the course of defending a $10.5 million lawsuit alleging breach of contract, fraud, conspiracy, tortious interference with contractual relations, and a request that the Court specifically enforce the purported sale of a local restaurant. After Plaintiff presented its case-in-chief to a Howard County jury over six days of trial, during which Mr. Dorsey mounted aggressive cross-examinations of Plaintiff’s fact and expert witnesses and presented impeachment evidence, Mr. Weiss argued that Plaintiff had failed to present legally sufficient evidence to permit the case to proceed and requested judgment in favor of the owners of a local restaurant on all counts. After oral argument, the Court sided with Kelly | Dorsey, P.C., attorneys Dorsey and Weiss, entering judgment against Plaintiff as to all causes of action; the Court, upon consideration of Kelly | Dorsey, P.C.’s attorneys, arguments, also denied the request for specific performance.’/]
